Nice, but...

Wales is nice so far, but it's still not Orkney. Orkney needs to have a Fulbright. Seriously. (And the picture, yes, is Orkney's Old Man of Hoy. I'm sure Wales has absolutely awesome scenery, but compared to Orkney? Or Scotland - judgement reserved, but these are some tough acts to follow).



On a more positive note, I did find a curmudgeonly old swimmer in the pool today who was giving me grief (jokingly) (I think) for passing him in the medium lane (the fast lane - man. I can last 20 minutes, then I need a medium-lane break). I am calling him "Cardiff Jim," not to his face, of course. Jim - are you still protecting my lane?

    Did you drink some Skullsplitter? Check out the Wrigley Sisters or Seelyhoo?

    Oh hell - when in Orkney it's ONLY Orkney brew. I prefer Dark Island to Skullsplitter. I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get to Orkney this time around. You'd love the brewery, though - middle of the island, simple little farm, surrounded by cows. And beer.
